Dorothy Foreman Cotton passed peacefully on June 10, 2018. While many mourn her passing, this event celebrates her extraordinary life and legacy that has truly changed not only our nation, but the world. Guest presenters include Emcee Cal Walker, Rev. William Barber, Cornell President Martha Pollack, Ithaca College President Shirley Collado, TC3 President Orinthia Montague, Clayborne Carson, Mrs. Aljosie Aldrich Harding, the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, Elder Gwen Hinton Perry, Kirby Edmonds, Anke Wessels, Aloja and Peyi Airewele, Mimi Melegrito, Eric Acree, plus the Foreman family and others from our community and around the US who knew, loved, and admired Dorothy Cotton and her life’s work.
Talk about building relationships across race, class, place and identity–this gathering brought so many of us together in honor of Dorothy across a wide range of the places, times, and ways in which she connected to people! Please listen to the inspiring voices and images you will find on the video.
